Xinhua, December 8, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Slovenian government adopted on Wednesday a strategy on adapting to future climate change, aiming to reduce Slovenia's vulnerability to its effects and sustain a society of high living standards.

According to the report by the Slovenian Press Agency (STA), the Slovenian government wants to make its nation a society of high quality and safety of living that makes full use of the opportunities in the changed conditions based on sustainable development.

The financial sustainability of the strategy is expected to be secured from both public and private funding. The strategy, that is adapted and resilient to climate change by 2050, envisages public funds especially from the EU, state and local budgets.

To monitor performance on its general objective, the strategy introduces a climate change vulnerability index, consisting of different variables from exposure and sensitivity to adaptability, taking into consideration the crucial identified risks and opportunities of climate change. Endit
