British FTSE 100 rises 1.81 pct on Wednesday

FTSE 100 Index, British benchmark stock market gauge, Wednesday rose by 1.81 percent, or 122.39 points, to 6,902.23 points.

Share price of Rio Tinto increased by 6.62 percent, topped the gainers of the blue chips. Anglo American, International Consolidated Airlines Group, Lloyds Banking Group and GKN increased by 4.81 percent, 4.77 percent, 4.69 percent and 4.50 percent respectively.

Shire led the top losers of the blue chips with a share price drop of 4.47 percent, following by WPP (2.77 percent), Pearson (1.07 percent), Croda International (1.01 percent) and Bunzl (0.94 percent). Endit
