Benin, Turkey reach 5 major agreements during Talon visit in Ankara

Benin and Turkey have come to strengthen and consolidate their bilateral cooperation with five new important agreements, according to a release on Wednesday from Benin's presidency here in the economic capital Cotonou.

In two-day official visit in Ankara, Turkey, Benin's president Patrice Talon and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday jointly witnessed the signing of the five major agreements, the source said.

The documents have been signed by Benin's minister of foreign affairs and cooperation, Mr. Aurelien Agbenonci and the Turkish ministers of Security, of education and of foreign affairs.

These are protocol on assistance for military training, cooperation agreement regarding security, cooperation agreement regarding education, memorandum of understanding (MoU) regarding information and communication technologies, as well as a MoU regarding archive management.

Turkish president Tayyip Erdogan intends to visit Benin at an expected invitation of Patrice Talon who started on Monday two-day visit in Ankara, the source also said.

He expressed the readiness of Turkey to fully support Benin in the implementation of structuring programs.

On the sidelines of his visit, President Talon received in audience major Turkish investors to whom investment opportunities in the West African country have been exposed so as to attract foreign investments. Endit
