JSE closes in red with losses across the board

The Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) all share closed 1.56 percent lower on Tuesday, with losses in resource shares leading the widespread slide.

South Africa's GDP growth was at 0.2 percent in the third quarter, down from growth of 3.3 percent in the second quarter, Statistics SA said on Tuesday.

The South African rand was trading at R13.63 to the U.S. dollar, R17.3 to the British pound and R14.62 to the euro at 5:00 p.m. (CAT).

Gold had gained 0.08 percent to sell at 1,171.45 U.S. dollars an ounce.

Liberty Two Degrees was amongst the biggest movers downwards, as shares slid 11.02 percent to R10.5 after investors bought and sold 245,475 shares in 97 deals. After 26 deals exchanged a total of 427,618 shares, Trustco Group Holdings fell 7.5 percent to R2.96. Endit
