Namibia's economic minister stresses infrastructure investment

Xinhua, December 6, 2016 Adjust font size:

Namibia's economic planning minister Tom Alweendo said Monday that the country needs to invest in necessary economic infrastructure as well as high level and relevant skills to enhance competitiveness.

Alweendo told a one day government business forum in Windhoek that by doing so, Namibia's economic sustainability is guaranteed.

The forum was held to support President Hage Geingob's Harambee Prosperity Plan and Agenda 2063 as well as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The delegates among them diplomats, government ministers and other officials discussed ways of collaboration in support of transformational initiatives to scale up and leverage resources.

Alweendo also said such investments will promote export-led economic development strategies that will grow Namibia's economy through industrialization.

Such investment, Alweendo said, would require Namibia's development partners to join hands with the government and transformative process that will make the economy more inclusive. Endit
