Infantry forces of SCO members conclude joint training

Xinhua, December 5, 2016 Adjust font size:

Infantry forces from member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) have concluded a week-long joint training exercise in Korla, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

The exercise, from Nov. 28 to Dec. 4, was aimed at improving troops combat ability and their ability to deal with security threats, a military statement said.

The participants have undergone training in mountainous areas to test their physical ability and combat skills, it said, adding that the exercise also focused on field training and strengthening military communication among member countries.

Such joint training events have become normal for the SCO, and play an increasingly important role in boosting regional security and stability, the statement said.

The SCO is an inter-governmental organization founded in Shanghai in 2001, including China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Endi
