The Afghan special forces have captured 11 militants in three provinces, the command of Afghan Special Forces said on Sunday.

"The Afghan Special Operations Forces carried out operations in Kabul, Wardak and Nangarhar provinces, capturing two local commanders of al-Qaida network, five planners and bomb-making experts of Haqqani network and four suicide attack facilitators of Islamic States (IS) group within the last 24 hours," it said in a statement.

The Afghan security forces had beefed up security operations recently as militants were attempting to take territory and consolidate their positions ahead of winter in the mountainous country.
