Xinhua, December 4, 2016 Adjust font size:

Stephon Marbury led five teammates with double figures to help Beijing edge Shenzhen 113-111 at home court in the 14th round of the 2016-2017 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league regular season action here on Sunday.

The victory for Beijing also stopped Shenzhen's seven-game winning streak in the previous rounds.

Beijing had a good start and Ji Zhe got 13 points in the first quarter. The home team kept a 4-point lead of 57-53 in the first half.

At the beginning of the second half, Shenzhen enjoyed a 8-0 start, giving Beijing a tough time both in offence and defense.

Min Lulei, head coach of Beijing, called timeout twice but couldn' t turn the tide as Beijing was 6 points behind with only 2 minutes remaining. Sun Yue contributed a block on Shenzhen guard Jeremy Pargo at the crucial time while Marbury' s two free throws and key steal helped Beijing steal the win.

Besides Marbury, Zhang Songtao, Ji Zhe, Zhang Qingpeng, Fang Shuo and Randolph Morris all scored double digits and Pargo had a game-high 40 points. It is Beijing' s first win over a higher ranked team this season and the third-ranked Shenzhen failed to take its 8th straight win.

The other four teams in CBA' s top five all took victories tonight. Top ranked Guangsha overwhelmed bottom of the table Guangzhou 107-75, Shanghai romped over Baiyi 93-77 thanks to a double-double performance of Jimmer Fredette. Guangdong embraced the 9th consecutive win by defeating Aolong while defending champion Sichuan lost to Xinjiang 92-98.

Elsewhere on Sunday, Shangdong edged Liaoning 95-93, Qingdao hammered Fujian 108-101, Tianjin lost to Jilin 121-126, Tongxi beat Shanxi 107-103 and Jiangsu smashed Zhejiang 106-92. Endit
