Namibia is willing to be Africa's logistics hub in the wake of the launch of the Continental Free Trade Area (CFTA), the country's trade minister Immanuel Ngatjizeko has said.
Ngatjizeko, who attended the first-ever Africa Trade Forum in Addis Ababa that ended Saturday, said for the CFTA to be implemented, it is critical that there should be infrastructure development such as corridor logistics.
The trade forum that was organized by the African Union took place from Nov. 28 to Dec. 3 brought together countries to discuss challenges hindering intra-trade flow.
Ngatjizeko said in a statement to Xinhua that Namibia has made good progress in creating a logistics hub for Africa and especially to boost regional and continental intra trade flow.
Ngatjizeko singled out the country's port of Walvis Bay which he said is well-developed to facilitate trade within the continent.
"If we harness our trade facilitation systems and tools, this will enable us to create connectivity and hence trade with each other competitively and increase intra-Africa trade flow from the current 14 percent to 50 percent in 10 years" said Ngatjizeko. Endit
