Bulgaria seizes 80 kg heroin destined for Western Europe

Xinhua, December 3, 2016 Adjust font size:

Bulgarian law enforcement officers have seized 80 kg of heroin destined for western Europe, officials said here on Saturday.

The heroin, split into 165 packets, was found in a car, parked in a garage at the Student Campus in Sofia, the Ministry of Interior said in a statement.

Two Bulgarians were arrested, including the 35-year-old owner of the vehicle, and a 47-year-old who had to transport the drugs across the borders.

The authorities said the value of the heroin on the black market would exceed 2.9 million U.S. dollars.

The latest move brought the total of heroin the ministry has seized so far this year to over 500 kg, the statement added. Endit
