One of Europe's biggest Robotics event, Robotex, kicked off here on Friday.

About 2,700 competitors from 20 countries signed up for Robotex this year. They are expected to bring 1,148 robots to the event held at Tallinn University of Technology, according to the event's organizer.

Project manager Mart Laul described Robotex as "the Mecca of Estonian tech fans", where people come with their friends to demonstrate their skills and learn from others.

The three-day event includes 23 robotics competitions, a technology exhibition and 40 workshops, and an international space robotics conference.

Robotex was initiated in 2001. This year marks the 16th edition of the annual event. Enditem
