Germany registers marginal increases of refugees in months but trend continues

Xinhua, December 3, 2016 Adjust font size:

Germany has registered only marginal increases of refugees over the past few months but the general trend of growing refugee influx continues, according to a local newspaper.

Latest statistics released by Die Welt on Friday show that there are about 17,500 refugees registered in the country in November alone, compared to 15,200 and 15,600 in October and September respectively.

The Federal Interior Ministry said that the number of new refugees registered in November falls in the normal range, which is far less than about 206,000 refugees registered in the same month of last year.

But compared with other European countries, Die Welt said, the monthly influx of refugees into Germany remains quite high. The country, a major destination for refugees over the past few years, has accommodated about 305,000 asylum-seekers so far this year, the newspaper added.

Germany has accepted a total of more than 1.1 million refugees since 2012. Endit
