Chinese top legislator holds talks with Algerian lower house speaker

Top legislator Zhang Dejiang held talks with Mohamed Larbi Ould Khelifa, speaker of the Algerian People's National Assembly (Lower House of Parliament) on Friday.
Describing China and Algeria as "brothers and friends," Zhang said both countries have forged a profound friendship and mutual trust in the cause of national liberation and rejuvenation.
China will promote all-round cooperation with Algeria and work with Algeria to advance China-Africa and China-Arab countries relations, said Zhang, who is chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC).
Zhang called on the NPC and People's National Assembly to enhance cooperation and boost the bilateral relationship, including respecting each other's core interests and major concerns to lay a solid political foundation for the relationship.
"China supports Algeria's efforts to safeguard national stability and economic development," Zhang said.
He urged the the NPC and People's National Assembly to improve the investment environment from the perspective of laws and regulations to create suitable conditions for practical cooperation.
Zhang hoped for more exchanges between the two sides in economic transformation and improvement of people's lives.
Ould Khelifa said Algeria admired China's outstanding achievement in economic and social development, and added the country was looking forward to more mutually beneficial cooperation with China in all areas.
The People's National Assembly is willing to strengthen friendly exchanges with the NPC to inject new vitality to bilateral relations, Ould Khelifa said. Endi
