A welfare-focused association dedicated to further strengthen the ties among Chinese people living and working in Bangladesh was launched Friday in the capital of Dhaka.

Chinese Ambassador Ma Mingqiang and Zhuang Lifeng, a leading Chinese businessman in Bangladesh, launched the "Overseas Chinese Association in Bangladesh (OCAB)" by unveiling a plaque at a ceremony.

The launching ceremony was held in Dhaka's diplomatic enclave Gulshan on Friday in the presence of hundreds of guests including many Chinese and Bangladeshi dignitaries.

Extending his best wishes for the newly launched association, Ambassador Ma expressed the hope that it will be one of the bridges through which relationship among Chinese people in Bangladesh will be further strengthened.

He spoke highly of the initiative, saying that the association would contribute to further boost the ties between Bangladeshi and Chinese people.

OCAB President Zhuang said the association is aimed at promoting collaboration among Chinese people living and working in Bangladesh.

"We also hope that the association will pave the way for us to build a further strong relationship between people of China and Bangladesh through various welfare activities by increasing the engagement of more Chinese and Bangladeshi people," he said. Endit
