Laos opens 1st data center

Laos has opened its first official data center in capital Vientiane, aiming to provide modern information systems and secure storage solutions in the country.

The newly opened data center, which will be known as the Lao Energy Efficient Data Center, is a facility to house computer systems and associated components, such as telecommunications and storage systems in Laos, Minister of Science and Technology Boviengkham Vongdara was quoted by local Vientiane Times on Wednesday as saying.

The center will provide secure storage systems for information and data generated by the government and also private companies in Laos, as well as boost the provision of information technology services to people in society.

It generally includes redundant or backup power supplies, redundant data communications connections, environmental controls such as air conditioning and fire suppression, as well as various security devices. Endit
