Slovakia to participate in NATO crisis management exercise in 2017

Xinhua, November 30, 2016 Adjust font size:

The cabinet at its session on Wednesday approved Slovakia's participation in the NATO CMX 2017 exercise, which aims to practice crisis management of NATO and its member states.

This exercise will take place at the end of 2017 and will also feature the practice of Articles 4 and 5 of the Washington Treaty which deal with collective defense mechanisms. NATO Response Force (NRF) capabilities and Slovakia's capacities in being actively involved in crisis management will also be practiced.

"NATO crisis management exercises are being performed in order to test the crisis management systems of NATO, its member states and perhaps even of partner countries and other invited states and international organizations," stated Slovak Defense Minister Peter Gajdos.

The exercise will be coordinated by the North Atlantic Council under the remit of NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg. The part of the exercise that takes place in Slovakia will be coordinated by Gajdos. Enditem
