Xinhua, November 30, 2016 Adjust font size:

New data suggest that Iceland is best in Nordic countries for cultural activity, the online newspaper Iceland Monitor reported on Wednesday.

Icelanders are the most avid theatre-goers of all the Nordic peoples and cultural life is flourishing in Iceland, according to the Nordic Statistics 2016 report, which is newly published under the auspices of the Nordic Council of Ministers and compares the Nordic countries in various areas of life.

The report shows that the Icelandic government dedicates more funds per capita to support cultural activity than any other Nordic government.

Furthermore, Iceland employs proportionally more people in the field of culture than anywhere else in the region -- 4.7 percent as compared to 3.4 to 4.1 percent in the other Nordic countries. Endit
