The First Chinese-German symposium on intelligent manufacturing and networking of production process opened Tuesday in Berlin.

The two-day symposium is made up of professional keynote speeches, round-table discussions, and parallel sessions.

A total of around 150 senior representatives from politics, businesses and academics constitute the Chinese delegation led by a vice-minister of industry and information technology.

Huai Jinpeng, the vice minister promised to support the market cooperation between Chinese and German enterprises, and to promote demonstration projects in manufacturing, electronics, information, car networking, etc.

Shi Mingde, China's Ambassador to Germany, stressed the huge potential and space of bilateral cooperation, opposed trade barriers, saying China and Germany should be partners rather than opponents in economy and innovation development.

Matthias Machnig, state secretary at the German ministry of economic affairs and energy, called for tearing down barriers for enterprises and building up foundation of long-term cooperation in level playing field.

Georg Schuette, state secretary at the German ministry of education and research, said cooperation between the two countries will promote solutions to communication safety and date security problems.

China and Germany have signed a memorandum of understanding in intelligent manufacturing and networking of production process last year. A number of 18 cooperation projects between the two countries have been set under that framework by far.

A new round demonstration projects collection also kicked off on Tuesday's event.

China and Germany will take turns to hold the symposium in future. Next year's event will take place in Beijing. Endit
