Belarus receives 6 Russian Mi-8MTV-5 helicopters

Belarusian military forces have received six Russian Mi-8 MTV-5 helicopters, country's defense ministry said on Monday.

An official ceremony of handing over the six helicopters was held Monday at the military aerodrome near Minsk.

The Mi-8 MTV-5 helicopters can be used in health care, search and rescue missions as well as for transportation operations.

At the ceremony, Maj. Gen. Oleg Dvigalev, Commander of the country's Air Force and Air Defense Troops said the fourth battery of the "Tor-M2" surface-to-air missile (SAM) system will arrive in Belarus in December 2016.

The first and the second batteries of the Tor-M2 SAM system entered service in the Belarusian Armed Forces in 2011 and 2012, the third one in 2013. Endit
