Iran calls for national move to improve oil recovery

Xinhua, November 24, 2016 Adjust font size:

Iran's Minister of Petroleum on Thursday urged for a national move to improve oil recovery, boost oil production and increase national wealth, Iran's Petro Energy Information Network reported.

Bijan Namdar Zangeneh said that Iranian universities should attend the technical discussions on the Iran's petroleum contracts in order to empower the country in engineering the resources.

Zangeneh urged the Ministry of Petroleum's affiliated companies to cooperate with universities and to facilitate their studies on development of oil fields.

Iranian companies are enough experienced in drilling oil wells, establishing pipelines and constructing the production units, but they have less experience in the field of oil recovery from the oil fields, he said.

Oil recovery should become a national demand because it can increase the country's wealth, he added.

According to a report by Press TV, the National Iranian Oil Company plans to drill 300 wells at the South Pars oil layer, which requires Improved Oil Recovery and Enhanced Oil Recovery technologies to reach crude oil. Endit
