Number of tourists in BiH up 11.6 pct year-on-year in Jan-Sept

Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) received 902,402 tourists in the first nine months of this year, an increase of 11.6 percent year-on-year, local media reported on Thursday.
According to data from BiH's Agency for Statistics, there were 1,896,915 overnight stays during the period, a 10.8-percent increase year-on-year.
In the overall number of recorded overnight stays, the percentage of domestic tourists was 29.4, whereas the percentage of foreign tourists was 70.6, the statistics agency reported.
Among the overnight stays of foreign tourists, tourists from Croatia made up the biggest group in the first nine months (10.1 percent). They were followed by tourists from Turkey (8.6 percent), Serbia (8.1 percent), Italy (6.5 percent), Slovenia (5.4 percent) and Poland (4.7 percent).
In terms of the length of stay, the first place was taken by tourists from Malta with an average stay of 5.7 nights, followed by tourists from South Africa with 3.9 nights, Lithuania with 3.7 nights, Ireland with 3.6 nights, and Kuwait with 3.4 nights. Endit
