Polish investments too dependent on EU funds:official

Polish investments, including public projects, are too dependent on European funds, according to Polish Deputy Prime /p>

Morawiecki noted that Poland had managed to "push forward" major infrastructural projects only when it gained access to EU funds, according to Polish Press Agency.

"Our public investments, particularly infrastructural ones, are too dependent on the EU, which is the weakness of our investment model that we would like to change in the next five to 10 years. This cannot be done quickly," Morawiecki noted.

Morawiecki said he was satisfied with foreign investments in Poland this year as they were carried out from scratch rather than through privatisation.

Morawiecki said stimulating private investments was important for him and added that their current quality was much better than before.

The European Investment Bank (EIB), the long-term lending institution of the European Union (EU), reported last Friday that it was preparing to finance 11 investment projects in Poland.

According to the EIB press office, the bank has so far signed 94 million euros (99 million U.S. dollars) worth of loan agreements in Poland. (1 euro = 1.06 U.S. dollars) Endit
