Xinhua, November 24, 2016 Adjust font size:

An Israeli army officer was killed when his tank overturned in the Golan Heights, a military spokesperson said on Thursday morning.

Three other soldiers were also injured in the accident that occurred overnight during "routine training," the spokesperson said.

The soldier killed in the accident was identified as Sergeant Ido Ben-Ari, a 20-year-old tank commander in the 401st Brigade.

Military authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

Israel seized the Golan Heights from Syria in the 1967 Six-Day War, and annexed it in 1981, a move not recognized internationally. Endit
