Russia sends 58th humanitarian convoy to E. Ukraine

Xinhua, November 24, 2016 Adjust font size:

Russia has sent its 58th humanitarian aid convoy to the eastern Ukrainian region of Donbass, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations said Thursday.

"The convoy of over 40 cars with 400 tons of humanitarian aid for Donbass moved out towards the Russian-Ukrainian border. It delivers food products, emergency supplies, medicines, construction materials, and educational supplies," said the ministry.

After custom and border inspections, the convoy will continue to move to the eastern regions of Donetsk and Luhansk.

"Experienced drivers-rescuers are driving the trucks. Also there are doctors and technical staff in the convoy," it said.

The ongoing conflict between Ukrainian government forces and independence-seeking militia began in April 2014.

Since August 2014, 57 convoys of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations have delivered more than 65,000 tons of vital humanitarian goods to Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Endi
