Pakistan PM condemns deadly Indian unprovoked firings

Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday strongly condemned the "unprovoked" firings by Indian forces that killed 10 people, including seven civilians and three soldiers along the Line of Control (LoC) in the disputed Kashmir area.

"Despite our exercise of maximum restraint in the wake of continuing naked Indian aggression along LoC resulting in the Martyrdom of innocent civilians including children and women, India has failed to comprehend the gravity of the situation," the prime minister said in a statement.

"No responsible state can permit targeting innocent civilians in general and ambulances carrying the injured in particular," Sharif said.

The Pakistani military earlier said that the Indian firing hit a bus which was heading to Muzaffarabad, the capital city of Pakistan-administered Kashmir and seven civilians were killed.

Three Pakistani soldiers were also killed in the Indian firing on Wednesday, according to an army statement.

There has been escalation along the LoC and the working boundary since an army base in the Indian-controlled Kashmir was attacked in September. India had blamed Pakistan-based "Jaish-e-Mohammad" group for the attack.

"In fact, India is trying to divert the attention of the international community from the grave human rights violations and atrocities being committed by the Indian security forces in the Indian Occupied Jammu & Kashmir," Sharif said.

Meanwhile, the Pakistani and Indian armies established a hotline contact on Wednesday after the cross LoC firing over the civilian bus attack by Indian troops, according to a separated statement. Endit
