Latvia adopts new national security plan

Latvian ministers at a closed cabinet sitting Tuesday approved a new national security plan, the Latvian Security Police informed.

Changes in the international security environment, terror threats, cyber threats, as well as various attempts to cause discord in Latvia's society and undermine stability and create new security challenges, Latvian Interior Minister Raihards Kozlovskis said in a statement.

The Latvian Security Police together with other security agencies drafted the plan based on the strategy and principles outlined in the national security concept.

The plan describes measures the Latvian security services are required to take to prevent and deal with various threats to national security.

The previous national security plan was drawn up back in 2011. Endit
