Tusk says EU, NATO membership key pillars to Estonia's security

European Council President Donald Tusk on Tuesday said that Estonia's membership of the European Union (EU) and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) will continue to be key pillars of the Baltic country's security and prosperity.
In a letter of congratulation to the new Estonian Prime Minister Juri Ratas, Tusk said: "I am gratified to learn that your new coalition intends to stay the course that Estonia has followed up to now in foreign and security policy."
"EU and NATO membership will continue to be the key pillars of Estonia's security and prosperity. In these difficult times, such stability is beneficial both for Estonia and the European Union," Tusk added.
Estonian Center Party chairman Juri Ratas was confirmed as the new prime minister by parliament on Monday.
Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid on Sunday appointed Ratas as candidate for prime minister and tasked him with forming a new government with two other parties. Endit
