A Xinhua News Agency editorial published Wednesday called for better cooperation between China and Latin America (LatAm) to realize common development and prosperity.
China and LatAm will set sail on a new course of friendship and prosperity by increasing cooperation and sharing development achievements, according to the editorial on Chinese President Xi Jinping's speech at the Peruvian Congress.
In his speech, Xi called on China and LatAm to strengthen dialogue on global issues and boost cooperation on domestic development, to better build their community of common destiny on a new starting point in history.
The speech was verbal "architectural drawing" outlining the building of China-LatAm community of common destiny, and elaborated on the development of a global community with shared destiny, which has been widely recognized by the people of LatAm and the international community, according to the article.
The brotherhood, partnership and friendship between China and Peru are all examples for the development of China-LatAm relations, it said.
Currently China is the second biggest trade partner of LatAm, while LatAm is the second largest destination for Chinese overseas investment, it read.
The editorial noted that both sides were looking to see how they could solidify and power the "big ship of China-LatAm community of common destiny."
The answers are peace, mutually beneficial cooperation, sharing of the fruits of development and a focus on serving the people, it said.
China and LatAm should expand cooperation and realize higher-level development, it pointed out.
The Cold War mentality is outdated and the trend of "the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer" needs a change.
All countries should make common efforts to establish equal and consultation-based partnerships, just and shared security patterns, open and inclusive development prospects, diversified cultures and green environments, according to the editorial. Endi
