Macedonian political class commits to holding democratic elections

Xinhua, November 21, 2016 Adjust font size:

Macedonian coalitions and political parties running at the general elections on December 11 signed Sunday a code where they expressed commitment to a fair and democratic electoral process, the State Election Commission (SEC) said.

The signing of this code came one day before the official launching of the election campaign here.

According to President of SEC Aleksandar Cicakovski, this is a chance for Macedonia to move forward while he stressed that the holding of fair, democratic elections contributed to the society's democratic development.

Through their activities, election participants set the foundations of democracy and contribute to the confidence building in Macedonia's electoral process, said the president of SEC.

Meantime, Macedonian Ombudsman announced Sunday that with the start of the electoral campaign on Monday, citizens can report violations of their voting right at hotline 0800 54321, available at the Ombudsman's office.

The hotline will be open for reporting of irregularities during the election campaign and Election Day, Ombudsman press office said. Endit
