Xinhua, November 19, 2016 Adjust font size:

A truck driver was arrested after a train accident on Friday in Winsum, in the northern province of Groningen, local media reported.

At around 12:00 p.m. local time (1000 GMT), the driver of a milk truck hit a passenger train, wounding several people. The exact circumstances of the accident are currently being investigated, but the truck driver was arrested for his role in the crash.

Eleven of a total of 18 injured were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The truck driver had no severe injuries. The slightly wounded were transferred to nearby fire stations.

The train was carrying around 30 passengers on its way from Groningen to Roodeschool. The truck left a farmyard and collided with the approaching train at an unguarded railway crossing. The truck then tilted and the train ran off the track. Endit
