Polish FM gives priority to implementing NATO Summit resolutions

Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs Witold Waszczykowski on Thursday said implementing NATO Summit resolutions and sustaining transatlantic relations were top priorities for the country.

During a press conference held to mark the first year of Prime Minister Beata Szydlo's government, Waszczykowski summed up the year from a foreign policy point of view.

"We seek to implement the decisions made during the NATO Summit which are to increase our level of security. We seek to keep the transatlantic ties among Europe and the United States, to further integrate our region so that it can be an important part of both the EU and NATO," Waszczykowski said.

Addressing Britain's decision to leave the European Union(EU), Waszczykowski called upon the EU to draw conclusions and reflect on why it is happening. "In our opinion, there was a mistake made by the European institutions and those institutions have to make a reflection and carry out some reforms," he added.

Among other goals for Poland's foreign policy, he listed applying to be a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council in the year 2018-2019, revitalizing the Eastern Partnership and efforts to reform the EU.
