Singapore PM to attend APEC summit in Peru: PMO

Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will attend the 2016 APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation ) CEO Summit on Friday and the 24th APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting (AELM) from Saturday to Sunday in Lima, Peru, said the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) in a statement on Wednesday.

The APEC CEO Summit is organized by the APEC Business Advisory Council within the framework of APEC for Asia-Pacific business leaders to discuss important economic and business issues. PMO said Lee will participate in a panel discussion on the topic of "The DNA of Global Growth."

At the AELM, APEC leaders will discuss the challenges to free trade and investment in the current global context, connectivity in the region as well as food security and environmental concerns.

During the absence of Lee, Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean will be the Acting Prime Minister. Endit
