Polish PM says Poland needs EU, EU has to change

Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydlo said on Tuesday that Poland and the EU need each other, but the EU has to change.
"We want European Union to develop. Poland needs the EU, EU needs Poland, but this European Union has to change and we prepare such projects of reforms and we will present them,"Szydlo said while summarizing the first year of her government.
According to Szydlo, without carrying out necessary reforms, the EU "will face another problems."
"We want to have partners, allies worldwide, but also want to say clear that our government will never give up on the Polish state interests for the need of any international contracts or compromises," she added.
During the press conference, the prime minister also talked about security, one of the government's priorities, reminding that the NATO summit has been successfully held in Warsaw this year and made some decisions crucial for the country's security and defense.
Apart from the security and international policy, an important part of Szydlo's summary was internal policy.
In this aspect, among the achievements of the government, she enumerated the pro-family program "500+", a financial aid for families with more than one child, the rebuilding of Polish industry, support for enterprises and many others.
In the context of challenges ahead, she mentioned education system reform, health system reform and other issues.
Szydlo's government was sworn in by President Andrzej Duda on Nov. 16, 2015. Endit
