Laos, Ireland discuss future cooperation

Irish President Michael Daniel Higgins and Lao President Bounnhang Vorachit on Tuesday discussed future directions to be taken to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries.

The Irish President and his delegation is paying an official working visit to Laos from Monday to Wednesday, reported Lao state-run news agency KPL.

During talks, both sides discussed assistance and cooperation on Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) clearance in Laos, the preservation of the environment and climate change, and cooperation promotion in economy, trade and investment in Laos, as well as regional and international issues of common interest.

Laos and Ireland established diplomatic relations in 1998. Endit
