Jordan, Iraq call for increased collaboration to fight terrorism

Xinhua, November 15, 2016 Adjust font size:

Jordan and Iraq on Tuesday urged increased cooperation to fight terrorism and radical ideologies, the state-run Petra news agency reported.

Jordan's Lower House Speaker Atef Tarwaneh said Tuesday that there is a need to unify the Arabs efforts to address issues facing the Arab nations.

He made the remarks at a meeting with his Iraqi counterpart Salem Jabouri, during which they said Arabs need to have unified stances on the various issues facing them.

"Our war against terrorism will not only be at the military level...The most important battle is the ideological battle everywhere," Tarawneh said.

Jordan is part of a US-led international coalition to fight the so-called Islamic State in Syria and Iraq.

The Iraqi lawmaker said Jordan and Iraq face common challenges.

He also reviewed developments in Iraq and the impact of terrorism on the country, voicing appreciation for Jordan's support. Endit
