UAE supports int'l efforts to end Libyan crisis

Xinhua, November 14, 2016 Adjust font size:

United Arab Emirates (UAE) Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash said on Sunday his country supports global efforts to reach a solution to the Libyan crisis, UAE state news agency WAM reported.

Gargash made his comments during talks with UN special envoy to Libya Martin Kobler in Abu Dhabi.

He stressed the importance of supporting efforts to maintain security and stability in Libya through a "comprehensive solution" that involves all parties in the North African state.

The two sides also reviewed the latest developments in Libya and exchanged views on possible means to advance the political process.

The UAE was part of a Nato-led multi-national military intervention in 2011 which was formed to oust then Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi. The campaign was halted in late October that year when Gaddafi was killed by anti-government, pro-Nato rebels. Since then, the oil-rich state has been gripped by internal turmoil. Endit
