Norwegian police to use new "urban camouflage" uniform

Xinhua, November 13, 2016 Adjust font size:

Around 100 Norwegian rapid reaction police officers will get new, so-called "urban camouflage" uniform on Monday, newspaper Aftenposten reported on Saturday.

The current black uniforms are easily recognizable in crowds and from a long distance, which is why the new choice fell on a more subdued green color, the report said.

"It consist of pants, jacket and the upper part of the uniform. The new uniform will replace the coverall as daily uniform for our national emergency preparedness forces," said Reidar Foss, police inspector in Norway's National Police Directorate.

Under the new uniform jacket, there is a solid place for bullet-proof and stab-proof vests, while the jacket pockets are specially made for other working tools. The material is flame retardant and has reinforced knee pads.

If the uniform passes a two-year test period, it might become future uniform of rapid reaction police forces throughout the whole country. Endit
