Algeria forecasts 3.9 pct growth in 2017

Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal said on Saturday that the government forecasts a growth rate of 3.9 percent for the country in 2017 despite the decline in oil revenues.

"Although 2017 will be marked by difficult times, we will work hard to reach a growth rate of 3.9 percent," Sellal said at a meeting with the prefects.

"Despite the contraction of oil revenues for the past three years, Algeria will continue to resist and make more efforts to maintain the stability of its macroeconomic indicators," the prime minister added.

According to the World Bank, Algeria's economic growth is expected to rebound to 3.4 percent in 2016, against 2.9 percent in 2015. Endit
