Austrian authorities make 30 arrests in drug ring bust

Xinhua, November 12, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Austrian authorities have arrested 30 suspects as part of a major drug ring bust, the police from the city of Graz said on Friday, according to an Austria Press Agency report.

The authorities made the arrests in the cities of Graz and Vienna since the beginning of the year after being tipped off about drug dealers centred around a pub in Graz.

This, in turn, led to further suspects based in the capital city.

As part of the bust, the authorities confiscated large amounts of cocaine, ecstasy, marijuana, and hashish with a street value of 300,000 euros (325,000 U.S. dollars), as well as over 90,000 euros (98,000 U.S. dollars) in cash.

The drugs had in part been smuggled in from the Czech Republic, the report said. Endit
