Slovakia sends police officers to protect Bulgarian-Turkish border

Xinhua, November 10, 2016 Adjust font size:

Twenty-five Slovak police officers will leave for Bulgaria on Thursday to protect its borders with Turkey as part of the European Border and Coast Guard mission, the Slovak Interior Ministry said.

For this occasion, Slovak Interior Minister Robert Kalinak will meet his Bulgarian counterpart Rumania Bachvarova at the Kapitan Andreevo border crossing in Bulgaria.

Slovakia already sent 25 police officers to Bulgaria in October. They were scheduled to protect the Bulgarian-Turkish border for one month and then be replaced by another group of peers.

Slovakia sent more than 300 police officers for foreign missions last year, specifically to Macedonia, Hungary and Slovenia. In addition to Bulgaria, the Slovak Interior Ministry has also sent police officers to Serbia this year. Endit
