Russia tests missile silo guarding robot

Russia's Strategic Missile Forces (SMF) have tested a combat robot designed to protect missile launch silos from attacks, the producer said Thursday.

The Self-Propelled Robotic System can fire bullets and grenades, and hit targets within 400 meters, according to a report on the New Russian Weapons website, run by Russia's military equipment producer Uralvagonzavod and the RIA Novosti news agency.

The system, equipped with electro-optical and radar reconnaissance devices, has the ability to aim and hit targets in both automatic and semi-automatic mode, the report said.

The SMF this year will also receive other new protection systems, including the Mobile Robotic System, designed for reconnaissance,elimination of stationary and moving targets, fire support, patrols, and protection of important sites. Endi
