Albanian economy to continue growth in Q4: central bank

Xinhua, November 10, 2016 Adjust font size:

Economic activity in Albania will continue to grow during the fourth quarter of 2016 and will return to equilibrium over 2017, the governor of the Bank of Albania Gent Sejko told reporters Wednesday.

Presenting the quarterly monetary policy of the bank, Sejko highlighted that private consumption and investments would drive the country's economic growth in the upcoming year.

Foreign trade is expected to have a secondary role in growth and the fiscal policy is expected to remain consolidated.

Annual inflation is expected to reach 2.3 percent four quarters ahead and return to target over 2018, Sejko said.

The governor also presented the decision taken Wednesday by the Supervisory Council of the bank to keep the benchmark rate unchanged at the level of 1.25 percent. Even the rates for the overnight deposit and loan facilities remained unchanged at 0.25 percent and 2.25 percent respectively. Enditem
