Ghana's inflation falls in October

Consumer inflation in Ghana fell by 1.4 percentage points to 15.8 percent year-on-year for the month of October in Ghana, relative to the 17.2 percent recorded during the previous month, according to the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS).
The month-on-month inflation for the month under review was also 1.4 percent, compared with the 0.2 percent recorded in September 2016.
Addressing the media here on Wednesday, Baah Wadieh, Deputy Government Statistician, disclosed that inflation for the food and non-alcoholic beverages group dipped 0.3 percentage points to 8.7 percent during the month of October, relative the 9.0 percent for September 2016.
"For the non-food group, inflation for the month of October, 2016, fell by 2.2 percentage points to 19.4 percent relative to the 21.6 percent recorded in September 2016," Wadieh said.
Ghana goes to the polls on December 7 and both the International Monetary Fund(IMF) and the current government have projected a 13 percent year-end inflation for 2016. Endit
