Singapore stocks close 1.08 pct lower

Singapore stocks finished lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 30.36 points, or 1.08 percent, to close at 2,789.88.

A total of 2.24 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1.85 billion Singapore dollars (1.33 billion U.S. dollars).

Decliners outnumbered gainers 318 to 113, while 472 others finished unchanged.

The STI index gained 19.29 points, or 0.69 percent, to close at 2,820.24 on Tuesday. Endit
