Albania swept by heavy rainfalls

Heavy rainfalls started early Tuesday have flooded a number of cities and villages in Albania, forcing many people to leave their homes.

According to the Albanian civil emergency authorities, the situation is worrying in the capital city of Tirana and in other cities including Lezha, Fushe-Kruja and Durres, where hundreds of houses and hectares of land are under water.

There are also reports of land slides and roads being blocked.

Weather forecast experts informed that the heavy rainfalls will continue throughout the day.

The authorities and police have demanded that citizens stay at home, while in more problematic places, they have evacuated some local residents to safety. Endi
