Pakistan on Tuesday summoned Indian Deputy High Commissioner J.P. Singh over the recent cross Line of Control (LoC) firing that killed three civilians, the foreign ministry said.
Pakistani foreign ministry strongly condemned unprovoked ceasefire violations on Monday by the Indian forces on the LoC in Nikial and Jandrot sectors, the ministry said in a statement.
Three civilians, including a woman were killed and four others, including a five years old boy, were injured, it said.
The ministry also urged the Indian side to respect bilateral ceasefire understanding reached in 2013, investigate the continued incidents of ceasefire violations, instruct the Indian forces to respect the ceasefire, in letter and spirit, stop targeting the villages and civilians and maintain peace on the LoC, the statement said.
There has been escalation along the LoC, the de facto border, between the two countries in the disputed Kashmir region, since suspected militants killed 19 soldiers in the Indian-controlled Kashmir in September.
The nuclear neighbors accuse each other of the 2003 ceasefire violations. The cross LoC firings in recent weeks have caused casualties on both sides. Endit
