Tokyo shares close lower by break on caution over U.S. election

Tokyo shares ended the morning session lower on Tuesday as investors kept cautious before the U.S. presidential election.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average went down 26.37 points, or 0.15 percent, from Monday to 17,150.84.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange dropped 0.37 points, or 0.03 percent, to 1,362.43.

Decliners were led by mining, warehousing and harbor transportation service and pharmaceutical issues. Endit
