Namibia will open on Tuesday a major investment conference aiming to attract foreign investors.

The two-day Invest in Namibia Conference in Windhoek is expected to focus on the investment in agriculture, housing, logistics, infrastructure, energy sector, tourism and manufacturing.

Namibia is on a renewed drive to attract foreign direct investment and to market the country as an attractive investment destination.

Organized by the industrialization ministry in conjunction with the private sector, the conference is running under the theme: Promoting Investment for Inclusive Growth and Industrialization.

It seeks to present attractive opportunities to local, regional and international investors in targeted sectors that have the potential to contribute towards economic growth and job creation.

By Monday, close to 1,000 people from as far as Mexico, the United States, Italy, Belarus, and South Africa, had indicated that they would attend the conference.

A delegation from Gauteng, South Africa, will be led by the province's premier David Makhura. According to a press release Monday, Makhura is expected to tour uranium mines, industrial parks and water reclamation plants in Namibia. Endit
