Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov discussed on Monday the recent developments in the Middle East, said Egypt's foreign ministry spokesman.
During a phone conversation, both ministers tackled the latest developments in Syria along with the ongoing efforts to reach a ceasefire in order to facilitate humanitarian aid efforts to reach Syrian citizens in Aleppo, spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said in a press statement.
They also discussed the draft resolution presented by Egypt, New Zealand and Spain to the United Nations Security Council concerning the humanitarian situation in Syria, he added.
Abu Zeid said that the Egyptian minister informed his Russian counterpart about the efforts Egypt's mission exerted at the United Nations in an attempt to bridge the gaps among the Security Council's members regarding Syria's draft resolution.
In addition, both ministers discussed the situation in Libya as well as efforts to help Libyan parties implement the UN-led Skhirat agreement to end internal fighting and reach a unity agreement. Enditem
