The governor of the U.S. state of Texas on Friday warned of a possible terrorist threat against the state, urging the public to be vigilant and report anything suspicious over the coming days.

Greg Abbott's warning came following a statement of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), in which the agency said that they had received a possible al-Qaida terror threat against the United States on the eve of Election Day on Nov. 8. (US-Texas-Terror attack)

MOSUL, Iraq -- Eighteen displaced people were killed and four policemen wounded in a roadside bomb attack targeting a convoy carrying Iraqi families fleeing a town seized by Islamic State (IS) militants in Iraq's Salahudin province, a provincial security source said Saturday.

The incident took place on Friday when two roadside bombs struck a convoy of police vehicles carrying the families who fled their homes in the IS-held town of Hawijah in Iraq's northern city of Kirkuk to the refugee camp in the town of Alam, east of Salahudin's provincial capital city of Tikrit, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity. NEW DELHI -- At least 16 people have been killed and 28 others injured after a private passenger bus plunged into a gorge in the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh on Saturday, a senior police official said.

"The mishap took place near the state's Mandi town, some 200 km from Himachal Pradesh's capital Shimla, when the driver lost control of the speeding bus that was also overloaded. The bus soon rolled into a gorge," he said, on condition of anonymity. (India-Mishap-Deaths)

JAKARTA -- A boat has capsized in waters off Aceh province of western Indonesia, leaving five people missing, a senior official of local disaster agency said Saturday.
